What is a sworn translation, and when do you need one?

October 3, 2026

A sworn translation is an official translation produced by a translator accepted by the courts, who signs and stamps it and certifies that it matches the original document. That is why courts, administrations, embassies and universities accept it.

When do you need one?

Usually when you submit Moroccan documents to a foreign body, or foreign documents to a Moroccan one. Typical cases are visa files, study abroad, immigration, mixed marriages and court cases.

Why must I bring the original?

The translator can only certify conformity after seeing the original. You can send copies to get a price and a deadline, then bring the originals when you collect the translation.

Do I need an apostille?

Not always. It depends on the country and the receiving body, so ask them first or message me and I will explain.
